Blog Fail

Hello....anyone there? Man it's dusty in here. Hi. It's me. Remember? Remember how I promised you the world and then let you down repeatedly? Wait...sorry wrong person. This is a blog right? Good. Whew.

So what's shakin' dear reader(s)? It's been entirely too long since I last wrote in this thing. Well over a year. Many false starts along the way but I'm back and boy do we have things to discuss. What happened in a year you ask? Lots of stuff. Here's a brief rundown:

Weight Loss (Yay), Promotion (Woot), Breakup (Boo), Car Wreck (Damn)

I got back from Europe last year all full of resolve to do this thing up right and then it all fell through the cracks. I stopped writing. I didn't call. I was a jerk. Sorry bout that.

When I got back from planet Czech I was fat. Deep fried meat covered in cheese and beer will do that. Naturally I gave a half-assed attempt at weight loss. I ate even more crap, stopped working out as much and then ballooned to 203 pounds. It was an incredible thing to behold. Imagine a people shaped sausage casing reaching it's upper expansion threshold and you've got a pretty good idea what I looked like. Flash forward to December. Work has a weight loss competition that kicks off in the middle of January the next year. I am asked if I would like to join a team. I join said team and weigh in at 203. Not cool. I have a little over 9 weeks to do something about it. And do something about it I did. I went from 203 at the start of the competition to 181! I lost 10% of my body weight and I won the competition. I know right? Even better is that it's been over 3 months and I'm keeping the weight off. This is the longest I've been able to do it. I'm well on my way to 160 pounds which, as you may recall dear reader, is the target I set for myself like seventeen years ago when I first wrote that I was gonna do it. Look at me realizing my dreams.

Got a promotion at work. The blogger formerly known as a PC Support Technician Associate is now an Intermediate Desktop Analyst. I know what you're thinking and yes the title is easier to say. Same job different title. Just fine by me.

Then the breakup....and...

CRASH!!! Remember that Passat I told you about a year ago? Yeah...about that. Two weeks ago today I was coming home from a training class for work and I made a protected left turn. The guy that ran the stop light was not protected and I guess in the end I wasn't either. He hit the passenger side of my car as I was turning and spun me back into the intersection. Not exactly my idea of a great ride home. Hit me so hard that my engine shifted and the front end disintegrated. So fast forward to Monday of this week and the car was officially declared a total loss. I really loved that car. It was my driving buddy. The important thing is that both of us walked away. My left shoulder got banged up pretty bad and is still acting up but other than that I'm good. I can get another car and life will return to...something that involves me not getting in car accidents. So if you're looking for a solidly made car that will protect you like a sexy German Secret Service agent, get a Volkswagen. Das Auto baby! There's your product endorsement of the day.

So in the year and some change since I last updated this thing my life has adjusted and course corrected and then course corrected again. Always an interesting ride. Glad I'm around to see it all happen. Guess that about wraps it up. Apologies for the extended absence. I'd make promises to do better in the future but we all know I'm unreliable.
